Winger George North has been ruled out of the remainder of Wales' rugby tour of New Zealand after injuring his hamstring in Saturday's first test against the All Blacks.

North was injured during the second half at Eden Park, where New Zealand won 39-21 to take a 1-0 lead in the three test series. Wales plays the Chiefs Super Rugby team on Tuesday before the second and third test matches at Wellington and Dunedin.

The 24-year-old North was playing his 65th test on Saturday and was one of Wales' best players, making six line breaks. Wales coach Warren Gatland described North's performance as "absolutely outstanding."

The tourists have already called in 18-year-old Ospreys winger Keelen Giles as cover.

Giles was plucked out of the Wales team which is currently competing in the World Under-20 tournament in England and joins the touring team along with two-test flyhalf Rhys Patchell.

Scarlets scrumhalf Aaron Jarvis was previously called up as a replacement for Lloyd Williams, who was ruled out of the tour with an ankle injury.

Prop Paul James was forced to return home with a calf injury and Aaron Jarvis was summoned as injury cover.
