Taula Original Apia got off to a good start in the National Provincial Championship when they beat Falealili 43-17. The game attracted hundreds of spectators at the HPU Field, Tuanaimato

Taula Original Apia captain Itifusi Matamu said they have just got together this week, so they are still in the adaptation stages. Hopefully, they will come back stronger and carry their great victory throughout the NPC.

“I am still trying to build trust between players because it's only been a week since we started training together. The purpose of this first week is to build a culture between us players, for us to get used to each other on and off the field,” he said.

“As you know, this is the NPC, so teams were selected from different clubs. But this is the highest level of rugby in Sāmoa. But my hope really is that by next week our team will be solid.”

Itifusi expressed how happy he was about winning their first game. He believes that his team is off to a good start, and hopefully theyʻll carry it through.

“We will be working towards our structure and the system that we were on. I believe that our win today was for our supporters, families and our sponsor. There is still work that needs to be done. But the win today was totally worth all the sweat.”
