The Salega No.1 seat remains with the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi party candidate Fepulea’i Fa’asavalu Su’a after the count of 40 special votes.

The provisional results place the F.A.S.T. candidate in the lead by just six votes, ahead of Tautua Samoa Party leader Afualo Dr. Wood Salele.

Placing third is the incumbent Member of Parliament, To’omata Aki Tuipea who is a solitary vote behind Afualo, and only 13 votes between him and the first placed Fepuleai.

With the Salega No.1 unofficial results unchanged, the 25-all tie between the two parties - Human Rights Protection Party and F.A.S.T. remains the same.

When asked in a previous interview to explain how he felt when the preliminary results were released, Fepulea'i smiled and said: "I was shocked!

"I didn't think I was capable of winning against veteran politicians."

This was not the first time Fepuleai has contested in a General Election.

He also ran for Parliament in the 2016 General Election under the banner of the Tautua Samoa Party.

Fepuleai said his desire to run under a different party banner this time around was a result of his drive to see a change in the way the government operates.

Fepulea'i told this newspaper after the close of Election Day last week that whatever the results will be, he will humbly accept it.

"This is a test of my faith," he said. "I am not worried and relying heavily on God to guide me through this."

The 47-year-old is a businessman and the owner of the Island Trust Refrigeration.

Running for office, was not an easy decision to make, said Fepuleai.
