FIREWORKS

Many people are hoping to see fireworks as the New Year is welcomed. There could be sad news for many as the organisers of the annual event have not said a thing.

BUSES

Passengers in buses belonging to one company will be travelling in comfort with cushioned seats. This does not change the fact that the ageing buses are still not very safe for travelling. Can Samoa get new buses instead of planes?

UNWANTED

Being a young woman and travelling in buses is a daunting task, as the practice of giving up a seat to sit on someone’s lap continues. Young women have spoken out about unwanted touches on the buses. Make more trips and stop overloading the buses.

BAD DRIVERS

Unscrupulous taxi drivers are not sparing anyone, even pensioners. An elderly man was being charged $10 extra for a ride to town from Vaitele by one particular driver.

STILL WAITING

A man is still waiting for change for a $5 taxi ride he took on Friday. The taxi driver said he had no change for $50 and would return with the change from the nearest shop. The poor man is still waiting.

MORE RAIN

There is a high chance that rain will continue in the coming week. Families have planned reunions and booked accommodation near beaches. It would be smart to pencil in the wet weather and be prepared.
