Between the Lines
CONNECTIVITY
Another tender has been issued for the school connectivity project. This time it is for 80 schools. It would be good to do a stocktake on the $2 million already spent on the project.
QUESTIONS
While it is allowed for cabinet ministers to bring in drivers and advisors, the final say is still with the cabinet. Questions have been asked if the process was followed for a cabinet minister whose family members are part of the security escort and go everywhere he does.
FIREWORKS
The word is that there will be no special light show for Christmas as in previous years, and there could also be no fireworks for New Year's. These decisions are based on finances.
CROSSING
People are still crossing the roads without looking and have been involved in minor accidents. Sadly, the driver who is not at fault is charged every time, much like a strict liability offence.
SHOPLIFTING
Shop owners have noticed an increase in shoplifting. Some shop owners claimed that even underwear is being stolen. Time must be tough.
CYCLONE
A cyclone could form close by towards the southwest in the next two to three days. Neighbouring islands are gearing up. It would never hurt to stay prepared.
