Between the Lines
CLOSE BY
Some overseas voters are landing on polling day and hoping that they would be able to cast special votes from a polling booth closest to the airport. The New Zealand flights lands just a few hours before closing of polls. That's a close call.
CRIMINAL
While charges alone are not enough to disqualify a candidate. Remember, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. There are few candidates facing criminal charges before the court.
FRIENDLY JAB
It was an amusing scene as one each supporter from the blue, red and green parties met in a supermarket car park. All wearing their party colours and logos had a friendly jab at each other on who would buy the most seagrapes being sold by a child. Let’s just say, the child’s parents were be happy.
CONSTITUENCIES
Most candidates will now spend the week in their constituencies as the days tick down to voting day. For some, this would be the most time they would have spent in these districts at a single time.
TRAVELLING
While special votes eliminate the need to travel to the main island for many voters, some are still choosing to travel, taking advantage of the public holidays to see family and friends. Employers are hoping they return on time.
PHONES
Leave your phones in the car or with a relative outside the polling booth. No phones and recording devices are allowed inside. It’s mot proper or cool to film yourself while voting, no one in the world does and for good reasons.
