Between the Lines
TRAFFIC
Traffic was held up on a busy road for a government vehicle to come out, do a 180-degree turn and reverse back to its parking spot. Some people wield power to stop traffic.
SLAMMED
A party official decided to show her dissatisfaction with the local daily by kicking the doorstopper at their party headquarters, ensuring it slammed in the journalists’ faces. Is this a sign of doors being closed to the media if this party comes into power?
FREE
People are asking if the lyrics to a political party song hold any truth. The lyrics claim that education was free during the previous administration’s rule. Some parents want their money back.
BULLYING
It was disturbing to see a teenager bullying a primary school-aged child by the roadside. The older boy constantly kept tackling the younger and smaller one to the ground and did not stop despite cries. It took a vehicle to pull over and put a stop to the act. Charity begins at home.
FIRST GOLD
Congratulations to Anne Cairns for finishing with Samoa’s first gold medal at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau. She clocked 2:36:29 to finish first in the V1 500m Va’a. Many more to come.
REWARD
While political parties are going big on promises, nothing has been said about helping athletes. The Team Samoa in Palau have already been told not to expect cash rewards for their wins.
