Between the Lines

GOOD POLICIES

Some good policies are being announced by the new political parties. As good as the policies may be, people in Samoa are more likely to vote for those who have gifted them or along the kinship lines.

RED PARTY

Speaking of manifestos and election promises, the red party is yet to announce any of theirs. One would expect them to be at the forefront. At least, social media is abuzz with different parties attempting to bait voters.

REGISTER

Just a warning has been issued about registering other people online. This practice of candidates bringing people to get registered should be stopped because the candidates do this so the person will vote for them. Voting is a choice, and people should have the right to choose their candidate and not the other way around.

TEAMWORK

It was good teamwork from a rugby team as players combined well to lift a SUV blocking the path of their team truck and put it to the side. Looked like they had won their match too.

CONFUSION

A visible scorecard is recommended at the rugby games. A team confused about the score, erupted in celebration after the final whistle, with players and management hugging each other, only to find out that they had lost.

WORLD CUP

Tough luck to the Manusina. They went down 24-20 to Fijiana. Better luck next time, but the girls have been doing good. They have qualified for the World Cup, unlike their male counterparts.
