FACTS

A fact-checking department is needed in the Electoral Office. They may have their hands full, but politicians making false claims should be held accountable. Maybe the Ombudsman or the police can do this.

COST

It would be interesting to find out the cost of operating the regional airport at Faleolo. For six days, only one airline uses the facility. It is always good to find out if government finances have been spent wisely.

LOAN REQUIREMENT

The superannuation fund had changed its vehicle loan policy, demanding freehold land as security. It was changed after the reshuffle on the board. It is back to the old policy.

POLITICAL

Was the appointment of the former superannuation chair a political one? In his latest rant, the red party leader said the former chair was an ardent party supporter and called his dismissal illegal.

GOOD JOB

It was good to see the police come in early at the crossroad intersection near McDonald’s in the township on a busy Saturday. Two cars hit the traffic lights at the intersection the previous night.

NUISANCE

A homeless young man appeared next to the road after dipping in the river at Mulivai without any clothes. Whether intentional or not, such behaviour is becoming a nuisance.
