Between the Lines

CONCERNING

Two children aged between 10 to 12 years were seen flagging cars in a rural area with their backpacks. They could be just trying to return home, but it's concerning when there is no parent in sight.

STATISTICS

There are claims that early childhood education has been improving in the country. Making such a claim on the back of a launched framework is not evidence. Can statistics be provided to prove that?

HUMANITY

Humanity and morality are not dead. It was heartwarming to see people trying to locate the owner of a wallet with its money and cards intact. We need more people like this.

CHECKS

Spot checks at workplaces are urgently needed. Some people are still getting paid below the national minimum wage, and some employers are not paying superannuation.

RATED

The movies playing at the cinemas are all rated as either R18 or R21. Despite this, children are seen coming out of the cinemas. Who is checking their IDs?

RAIN

If you are sending your children to school, provide them with umbrellas or raincoats. Dress them warmly, too. The weather office has issued warnings on all fronts.
