The second floor of the national hospital, where the maternity ward is leaking. Carboards were spread on the floor with buckets placed in some places. It is going from bad to worse.

LONG WAIT

The wait for pregnant women to get checked at their clinic is getting longer. Some women had to wait for more than four hours. One exclaimed that the wait could induce labour. The staff are trying their best with limited numbers and resources.

BRIEFINGS

A member of the media fraternity asked if the police were still holding their weekly media briefings as they used to. It has been more than a year since the practice stop. Maybe the police is taking is cue from the leader of the nation.

UNSOLVED

No one has been charged or arrested after the tragic shooting of a teenager in Faleatiu that happened almost a month ago. Will this be another unsolved case?

INFRASTRUCTURE

None of the political parties has yet talked about the current infrastructure problems being faced, especially with the flooding of the fords. Everyone is talking about spending more money and bringing new projects while the old ones remain unfinished or in need of repair.

EXPIRED

It was amazing to see prices of certain food items slashed to less than 50 per cent last week in some shops. A closer look explained why. They were expiring in five days. Hope they are off the shelf this weekend.
