Between the Lines
SOUND OF SILENCE
The ring tone of a cell phone broke the silence early Thursday morning as members of the disciplined parade before the invited guests. The sergeant, not wanting to be loud, asked whose phone but the response was not forthcoming. Perhaps the best way to learn a very important lesson.
SHOES GALORE
There will be a lot of shoes collected by those cleaning up Apia Park. There are stories of people spending as much as $100 for brand new sandals which are now stuck in the mud. There were also a few young women who went out all the way with make-up and hair. God works in mysterious ways.
APIA PARK
SSFA have their work cut out for them as they have three days to bring Apia Park to a level where an international tournament can be hosted. The organisers of the concert over the weekend are definitely much happier than the bunch at Marist. Are there any suggestions for an alternate venue?
TOURIST INVASION
Farmer Joe in Vaitele was enjoying the attention from the Chinese tourists who arrived into the country on Saturday evening. Buses carting them made a stop at the store and there were definitely more tourists than locals. One person had to pinch himself just to confirm that he was not in China
THE APOLOGY
A little birdie has said that the ferry was delayed from Savaii on the request of a cabinet minister who had taken the tourists for an investment venture in his village. Is there a resort being built in Savaii? The minister who apologised does seem keen to share the reason for the delay.
