Between the Lines

DRIVE-BY

Gunshots were heard in Vaitele-Uta on Sunday evening. According to a resident, two shots were fired, and this was done from a vehicle. Another drive-by, what is this country coming to?

WAR

There is an impending war in the Middle East, and there are Samoans in Israel. It would be a good idea to see what the government, even a caretaker one, can do to bring them home.

GEOTHERMAL

Almost two decades ago, a study identified that geothermal energy could be used to power most of the big island. Two decades later, the geothermal energy sources remain, but their conversion to electricity is yet to be seen.

WEATHER

There was quite a lightning show on Sunday evening. This is an indicator of the weather to expect in the coming week, which, according to the weather office, could be rough. There is a marine advisory. Big three-metre waves and small boats are not a good mix.

MANIFESTO

The leader of the new party and the caretaker PM came back into the country last week from her international duties at the Ocean’s Conference in France. According to her party, her return was being awaited to announce their manifesto. She is back, and still no manifesto.

PROJECT

The government had announced a major solar energy project that would be unveiled towards the end of the year. Hopefully, a change in the government does not impact that.
