Two gold medals from Day One of Mini Games

Anne Cairns claimed the first gold medal for Samoa in the Pacific Mini Games in Palau after winning the Open Women's V1 500m race in a time of 2:36.29.
She survived strong competition from Fijian Elenoa Vateitei, who finished with a time of 2:38.59.
Samoa's second gold medal came from Shane Palemia in wrestling. He secured victory in the Open Men's 86kg event.
Samoa's swimmers and wrestlers will be in action today and more medals are expected.
