Samoa boxing team bag 18 medals
The national youth boxing team returned to Samoa with 18 medals from the Oceania tournament held in Fiji last week. The haul includes 13 medals and five silver medals.
The campaign was described by Independent Boxing Samoa Inc. as successful.
Johnsal Semi was named the best male boxer of the tournament. The youth who represented Samoa were all selected from the Samoa Inter-School boxing competition in early May this year.
Ministry of Sports Acting CEO Tafaese Spencer Tautu emphasised the importance of grassroots boxing development, urging IBS to continue holding the competition each school term. He highlighted the event's contribution to healthy living and the development of discipline among young athletes.
While the President of IBS, Tavui Mike Lemisio, emphasised the competition's role in fostering sportsmanship, friendship, and determination among participants.

- 60kg - Johnsal Semi (1 Gold, 1 Silver and a trophy for being the best male boxer)
- 65kg - Anthony Lama (2 Gold)
- 70kg - Mike Vui (2 Gold)
- 75kg - Daniel Alofipo (2 Gold)
- 80kg - Wells Matua (1 Gold, 1 Silver)
- 85kg - Fegaiga Taavao (1 Gold)
- 90kg - Joe Irae Matua - (1 Silver)

- 75kg - Darius Poulava (1 Gold, 1 Silver)
- 80kg - Tino Filipo (1 Silver)
- 85kg - Pelasio Roache (1 Gold)
- 90kg - Achilles Paul Taavao (1 Gold)
