100-years of rugby in Samoa
The Lakapi Samoa officially opened their 100-year celebration with a mass at the St Theresa of the Child Jesus in Lepea on Sunday evening.
Former and current players who played for the national side on the global stage attended the mass. There were Samoans who had represented other nations.
Next on the celebration itinerary is their parade that will be held on Tuesday. They will walk from the Samoa Fire and Emergency Services Authority to the Government building. It is said that this parade will be attended by former and current players of Samoa's national rugby teams, provincial rugby unions, clubs and stakeholders.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio will be the one to give the keynote address as the Prime Minister is out of the country for the Pacific Islands Forum meeting in Tonga.
Manu Samoa will be playing Tonga on Friday in the Pacific Nations Cup at Apia Park. The Tongan team arrived in Samoa on Sunday evening.
About six hundred formers and current players have been named in the celebration.
