Tusafaimafili Tupulua, 46, Fasitoo-Uta

"It’s a smart decision by the new Government to kick off their journey as new leaders of Samoa. People need help during these hard times and it is a good decision to support the community. Yes I witness from before that any occasion and a new project that opened with an official ceremony, the former prime minister and the whole cabinet with the CEOs attended then the village gave them lots of food and traditional gift to take to their families. It is a good move by the new Government."

Lesa Vaiola, 62, Matautu-Lefaga

"The new plan and the new policy by the new Government are so much better for us. It makes things easier for us to prepare cultural presents when everyone come to a special ceremony. So yes, I’m strongly support the good decision by the government to introduce this new policy."

Tone Fatu, 50, Aleisa

"It’s beautiful news for Samoa to assist with the cost of living and the tough times we are in. So the decision is hundred percent perfect to support our families and villages with low levels of economic activity. Another good thing is the gifts and presents  from the village or district will go straight to the right people, but not other Ministers who didn’t do anything on the new project."

Sola Viliamu, 55, Faleasiu

"I believe the plan to reduce traditional presents and gifts by the new Government is right on track and the timing is perfect because there is no point of making new works with the motives of earning things in return. I support the new decision to help the villages and it’s an opportunity to develop families during the pandemic."

Moana Sefo Pesamino, 61, Faleasiu-uta

"I want to show my acknowledgement to the Prime Minister Honorable Fiame Naomi Mata'afa and her new government for the new plan that would help us the people. It is a good start and we support you and your time. Be brave and keep up the good work Prime Minister."

 Rasela Vitoli, 32, Vaimoso

"That is a decision that should have been made ages ago when the former government was in power. To be honest, the cost of living is very high and we need help, we need peace as well so the changes is a very excellent start for the new Government, but we need more and more good things to come from this Government."

Pauli Lagi, 68, Salelologa

"I am very happy to hear that changes made by the new Government because the more Ministers attend, the more villagers' preparations to serve and honor them. But if only the specific minister attend to a particular occasion that is a big help for the district rather than prepare almost twenty gifts for them."

Tafa’i Peresiteine, 40, Vailoa Faleata

"I think it’s a very helpful change because when everyone comes to a special ceremony, it is a big occasion because all the high class people will received an expensive cultural gift and it is not easy to prepare. The whole village including men and women with their children will take parts and have a share with this occasion. So it is a good plan to make things easier for Samoa."
