A teenager, Jessica Christie Ah Tong, is a businesswoman at heart.

As the sole owner of JADS Samoa, she runs a business that deals with Arts and Designs for different products.

During an interview with the Samoa Observer, she talks about her passion and how she wants to inspire other young people.

"JADS Samoa is all about arts and designs," she said.

"I came up with JADS, which stands for Jessica's Arts and Design Samoa, because that always been my passion and for that I must say that this is my gift from God."

Ms. Ah Tong accepts that the road ahead will not be easy but she is confident.

"JADS was established on the 29 September 2019, so its only been operational for almost five months now," she said.

Among the products are flower crowns, wall mirrors, earrings, flower anklet, floral boutonniere/corsages, school book bags, invitations, wedding board, wedding souvenir boxes, custom made and personalised items like bottles, coffee mugs, school bags, caps, baby onesies and many others.

JADS might be small but it is growing.

Ms. Ah Tong is responsible for everything in terms of creating the products and advertisements and also calls on help from her families and older sister.

She also offered advice to other young people like her.

"My advice for the youth of Samoa is to pursue those talents which you are passionate about, believing in yourself to excel and prosper in what you do, trust in the Lord's greater plans already in stored for each of us at His own timing," she said.

She believes that God prepares and grants us the best, not second best. And with Him anything is possible.

"I am planning on studying fashion and design courses in New Zealand for one year, then return to Samoa and find a job that suits my qualifications and run my business as a side job," she added

Jessica Ah Tong received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the South Pacific in Fiji majoring in Human Resource Management and Public Administration Management.

She closed up the interview with Samoa Observer with a quote from the bible, "May He give you the desires of your heart and make all your plans succeed".
