"You are true heroes", Nurses acknowledged

The work of nurses during the measles crisis was acknowledged on Friday.

Miss Pacific Islands, Fonoifafo McFarland-Seumanu presented them with gifts packed and shipped to Samoa by the Brown Girl Woke initiative.

"You guys (nurses) are the true heroes because you all did an amazing job when we were battling the measles last year," Fonoifafo said when she presented the gifts.

One of the team members of Brown Girl Woke said they were delighted to put a smile on the faces of the hard working nurses.

"The gifts today came from our friends in America," said Victory Tuala Tamalelagi.

"We also had other donors who helped in getting these gifts to Samoa. This is just a small token from us to show you how much we appreciate the work you guys have done during the epidemic."

He says that the nurses are the people who worked tirelessly during the epidemic and this is their way of thanking them and also appreciating the work that they do each day for Samoa.

The nurse were given gift bags which contains items for their personal use and they were also given an early morning breakfast provided by B.G.W

"We are grateful for such gifts," said Nurse Tilomai, "We never knew about this however from the bottom of our hearts we say 'Thank you very much for everything'."
