Miss American Samoa Antonina Lilomaiava along with the president of the Miss American Samoa Inc (M.A.S.I) Simeafou Imo are here to roll out plans for Miss Antonina’s major project during her reign as the Miss American Samoa- her literacy project for the Children’s Ward in American Samoa.

“Prior to the implementation of this project our organisation M.A.S.I needs to completely understand and have a fair idea on how the project will be carried out and maintained for years to come, so we decided to come here and seek advice from S.S.A.B’s C.E.O Fiti Leung Wai as we know S.S.A.B has a library for the kids at the Paediatric ward,” said Simeafou Imo.

Ms. Lilomaiava and M.A.S.I are planning to set up a library or a reading corner that would have books for the children to read at the Paediatric ward in American Samoa.

“The Paediatric ward’s current status is, it only has a toy section for the children to play and I must acknowledge the former Miss American Samoa title holder for working on that project but I believe a section pertaining to education can be added to the toy section already there.

Reading is considered the most powerful key in  Education and having a library at the paediatric ward would certainly remind the children of American Samoa of how important reading is to education as it opens doors to a lot of opportunities.

The crew from Pago had the time yesterday to visit the Paediatric Ward at the National Hospital Moto’otua with the C.E.O of SSAB and were amazed with the service at the Library.

“The Library at the National Hospital looks amazing and it is definitely something like this we are looking at for the Paediatric Ward in American Samoa.”
