Promoting national messages through Miss Samoa pageant
This year’s Miss Samoa Pageant transforms beyond competition into a community movement, promoting national messages of inclusion, wellbeing, and shared responsibility.
To help this cause, the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development (MWCSD), in close collaboration with the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) and Bank South Pacific (BSP), announce the Miss Samoa 2025 Village Advocacy Float under the theme “Voices of Service, Symbols of Strength.”
This partnership is a shared commitment to promote women’s empowerment, youth leadership, and community unity through creative and meaningful village participation. BSP has generously committed $12,500 in prize support for the village floats, furthering efforts to strengthen families and promote positive values across Samoa.
BSP Country Head Tunumafono Jennifer Fruean said, “We are proud to support an event that brings our villages together in unity, respect, and positive leadership. The Miss Samoa Pageant is more than a pageant; it is a platform for national change, and BSP is honoured to stand alongside the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development and Samoa Tourism Authority in delivering this vision.”
Loau Donina Vaa, Chief Executive Officer of MWCSD, reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to using this platform as a national advocacy tool.
“With 67 per cent of our population under the age of 35, this initiative speaks directly to the heart of Samoa’s future. We are proud to collaborate with BSP and STA to strengthen advocacy for our daughters, inspire our sons, and mobilise entire communities around the values of service, respect, and inclusion. When we invest in our young people, we invest in the soul of our nation.”
Each contestant will lead a themed message, and every village float will bring that message to life. The event also reinforces the message to communities on the importance of keeping the country clean and keeping it beautiful, not only for the environment but also in assisting with efforts to market Samoa as a tourism destination. A clean and beautiful Samoa directly influences tourists’ perceptions, satisfaction and willingness to return or recommend the destination to others.
It’s a collective responsibility that starts from individual homes, villages and districts, whereby a clean environment becomes the cornerstone of sustainable tourism development.
The first prize for the floats is $4,000, $2,000 goes to the second-place village, and the third-place village gets $2,000. The remaining nine participating villages get $1,000 each.
Float awards will be announced after the parade on 7 November.
