HRPP tune hits right notes with supporters

A new campaign song for the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) is making waves among supporters, with its creator, Sinapi Logovii, saying the track was written to uplift the party and remind people of its accomplishments over the years.
Logovii, a longtime singer-songwriter from Nuusuatia, Safata, said he was inspired to write the song—simply titled HRPP—as a response to critics who question the relevance of the party in the current political climate.
“The reason I wrote the song was to answer all those people saying there’s no use in bringing HRPP back,” he said. “The song lists almost everything the HRPP has done for Samoa.”
The track, which features an upbeat rhythm intended to appeal across generations, was completed within a week. It was officially played for HRPP members and supporters at the party’s headquarters on Wednesday.
“It made me happy, especially seeing that everyone else was happy too, especially the leading members,” said Logovii. “They said they enjoyed it, and it lifted me.”
HRPP leader Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi praised the song and its creator, calling him “talented.”
“The song is very nice. It doesn’t lie—it tells the truth,” said Tuilaepa. “He has brought everything together in that song. It’s like when we say it, people don’t believe us, but when someone else says it, it lands differently.”
Supporters at the event echoed similar sentiments, noting the song’s catchy beat and celebratory tone.
“It has all of what HRPP has done over the years,” said one supporter. “The beat is catchy and makes people want to dance.”
Logovii, who resides in Nofoali‘i with his wife and five children, has been involved in music since 2012, with several of his songs available on YouTube. He also revealed he is currently working on another song dedicated specifically to Tuilaepa, which he plans to release before the snap election.
When asked about promoting songs in a political environment where parties are competing, Logovii said, “For me, it’s not about the other parties. This is about uplifting the HRPP even more.”
