With two more weeks left for the Samoa Men's Deaf 7s team's participation in the Pacific Rim Deaf Rugby 7s in Australia this month, telecommunication provider Digicel has stepped in to help.

President of the Samoa Deaf Association, Eli Enesi Sio, expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards Digicel for jumping on board to assist them in their preparations.

"We are truly grateful for this significant support from Digicel. As we enter our final weeks of preparation before departing on 25 June, this sponsorship provides a boost to the team's morale and readiness. It's more than just support, it's a strong message of inclusion and belief in our athletes," he said.

The Chief Executive Officer for Digicel Samoa, Karl Vizvary said the partnership was a reflection of Digicel's ongoing commitment to promoting community health, well-being, and inclusion through sport, particularly among vulnerable and underrepresented groups.

"At Digicel, we believe in the power of sport to unite communities and uplift individuals. Supporting the Samoa Men's deaf team is not just about sponsorship; it's about standing with a group of inspiring athletes who embody resilience, pride, and the spirit of inclusion. We're honoured to be part of their journey to the Pacific Rim Deaf Rugby 7s and proud to champion a more inclusive Samoa."

dThe team had their first ever feel of a 7s competition at the Moataa Rugby Club 100 years tournament early this month. It was an opportunity for them to get game-time experience and a national platform to showcase the skills and determination of the eaf athletes in front of local supporters.
