Maulolo joins SUP

Maulolo Tavita Amosa has officially joined the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP), aligning himself with caretaker Prime Minister Fiamē Naomi Mataʻafa.
Maulolo will once again contest the Sagaga No.2 seat. He was the member of parliament for the constituency before the dissolution of parliament.
The former Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) briefly attended the weekend launch of the newly formed Samoa Labour Party (SLP). This sparked rumours that he would be standing for the SLP. He clarified in an interview with the Samoa Observer that he “just wanted to see what their vision was,” adding he was present merely as “a citizen like everyone else.”
The announcement comes after SUP held its soft launch on June 5 at Apia’s Sheraton Hotel, drawing a prominent crowd including all 14 cabinet ministers. The launch emphasised recommitment to rule‑of‑law governance and Samoan unity under its Samoan name, Samoa Ua Potopoto
When asked about SUP’s manifesto or policy rollout, Maulolo deflected responsibility, describing himself as part of “a smaller group” and stating that planning would be led by “one of the bigger people,” referring to Olo Fiti Vaai. SUP has yet to announce a formal manifesto timeline, but has actively rolled out their candidates on their Facebook Page.
SUP was formally registered as a political party on 30 May, after the collapse of Fiame's coalition government in late May. The party was created to contest the snap general election scheduled for 29 August 2025. .
Maulolo, who left the in late May after after supporting Fiame's budget, frames his move as part of a broader shift toward lawful, inclusive governance, echoing SUP’s message.
