Let's dance, that is the Polynesian way of life and Lina's Poly-X Dance Academy is focusing on that.

They are promoting empowerment through their art and dancing. They will be having a concert "Mana o le Siva" in late August this year.

"The Academy initially started with workshops to teach Polynesian dancing; predominantly the Siva Samoa, Hawaiian Hula, Ori Tahiti, the Cook Island Ura and Kaparima; but it evolved into a safe space and a close-knit fellowship between the participating women whose ages range from 5-50," said Cessy Fa'asau, a member of the academy.

"The workshop closes with a concert to showcase the development and talents of the ladies involved. The primary objective of each concert is the promotion of empowerment through the art of dancing.

"This year’s concert theme is “MANA O LE SIVA” encapsulating that Dance, is not just an art, or just a form of communication; it’s a force of energy, power, a Lifeline. Dance, helps us to recall history, endure the pains of the past; and likewise embrace the future with a new perspective. There are healthier and less destructive ways and spaces to cope and grow; we found ours through dancing at Lina’s Poly-X Dance Academy."

Lina's Poly-X Dance Academy and brand was established and launched in 2023. The founder and Director is Katarina Alosio-Leapai who is a qualified fitness trainer, dance choreographer and entertainer.

This is the message that the group hopes to share especially with their vulnerable groups like the young children, youth and women. That through dance they can be empowered to become better and stronger versions of themselves, than who they were yesterday.

They hope that with their upcoming concert on the 31st August, they will be able to gain the support that they need from the community. Their concert will be at the Samoa Culture and Arts Centre in Malifa, starting at 7 pm.
