FAST 13, HRPP 8, Independents 3, official count continues

After two days of official counting, the Fa’atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party was in the lead as of 1:04 am Wednesday.

From the constituencies where the final count has been completed, FAST has secured 13 seats ahead of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) with eight seats, while three independents have also claimed victories.

Among the confirmed results, FAST gained strong wins in key constituencies, including Vaimauga No.1 with Pauga Teomatavui Talalelei Pauga, A’ana Alofi No.2 with Aiono Alec Ekeroma, Gaga’emauga No.2 with Seuamuli Letu’uga Fasi Toma, and Vaisigano No.1 with Amituanai Malolo Tautofi Roma. Cabinet Minister La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt also retained his seat in Gaga’ifomauga No.3 for FAST.

HRPP secured important victories in Vaimauga No.2 with Lenata’i Victor Faafoi Tamapua, Vaimauga No.3 with Taioali’i Seu Fiti Aimaasu, and Safata No.2 with Tuiā Pu’a Fuatogi Letoa. Veteran MP Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi held on to Faleata No.3, while newcomer Vaaelua Senetenari Samau won Fa’asaleleaga No.2.

Independents also made their mark. Fiu Faaolatane Ponifasio Vasa took Palauli No.2, Motuopuaa Seve Henny Afereti Papalii won Vaisigano No.2, and Faalogo Asuao Kapeliele II Faalogo claimed Siumu.

The results also highlight the increasing presence of women in Parliament, with Afamasaga Leone Mati Vaili Masame (FAST) winning A’ana Alofi No.4.

The official final count continues for the remaining constituencies, but the current trend places FAST in a strong position.
