Between the Lines
CONCERT
Blame it on the rain. Just like the Mili Vanilli song, a church concert had to cut it short and make the one event into a two-day one. The blessings from the heavens have a funny way of playing things out.
ROADSHOW
The red party has vowed that it will halt its roadshow to attend the funeral of a party stalwart. The former superannuation chairman passed away last week and was a strong red party man.
PASSPORTS
Upgrades may be needed for the local passport after it was discovered that many people are attempting to get new ones under different names. Good job on the elections office part for spotting the fraud.
BUSES
The transport authority has to go back and check all buses that are in service, especially the Samoan-style buses. The latest accident in Tufulele presents more than a credible case for the older buses to be out of service.
GOVT PAY
The civil servants not being paid presents a serious issue. It could be a one-off thing; however, the failure by the caretaker government to address the issue has everyone unsure of what the next few months will bring.
EXTRA MONEY
There has been no word on how the current government will spend the $12.5 million extra in the Ministry of Women's budget. It could go towards the elections and to paying wages, where departments are falling short.
