NIGHT BRAWL

It was a frightening scene on Thursday night in the main town area near a popular nightspot. A brawl erupted, possibly from inside the pub, and spilt onto the streets, with bottles being thrown. A heavy police presence was also seen.

BLAME

Do not blame the elections office if you were unable to register. The call to get registered was made last year. If you did not bother to get registered, the fault is yours and not the election office’s.

FINES

Almost 15,000 people are yet to register. According to the law, they could be fined $2,000 for failing to register. Surely, the elections office has their details.

UPGRADE

A telecommunication provider’s e-wallet system is facing a hiccup. Many customers' accounts were suspended for no reason. The blame was given to a system upgrade; however, customers were not notified. One customer had to wait more than a week to receive money sent from overseas.

MAFIA

A court case in a neighbouring island has revealed connections with European and South American cartels in the drug trade through the Pacific. While the election is important, law enforcement should not get complacent.

ROBBERIES

Violent home invasions are now being reported. In an incident over a week ago, invaders targeted an elderly man and beat him up while ransacking his home.
