RESHUFFLE
The Cabinet reshuffle announced by the PM yesterday is uniquely Samoan. It was discussed by the Ministers in their weekly meeting before it was announced!
LOYALISTS
Under the Westminster system, a PM can use a cabinet reshuffle to strengthen his or her hold on power, through the removal of rogue ministers and the rewarding of loyalists.
POWER
Only time will tell if the cabinet reshuffle will reap rewards for the PM or whether it was a symbolic act just to show political rivals who is in charge!
ALCOHOL
Whispers abound of a body regulating liquor forcing a local business to reduce its alcohol content. Why not just enforce it across the board for all producers?
CUSTOMER
A lot of international visitors are in town for various events as well as the Teuila Festival. For those in the service industry, remember the customer is always right!
PARKING
Interesting edict by the LTA on the use of Apia’s parking meters. It was meant to address a shortage of parking space, but it appears that the problem has worsened.
