"I think and I believe that the key to stopping all the hatred and cyberbullying on social media and elsewhere is through the HRPP leader. If he stops saying nonsense and accusations that mislead the public but accept his defeat and joined the Parliament, all these cyberbullying and online abuse will also end as well. But for now there is nothing the public can do because they are lighting up a fire and the people are just following them."

Uiese Le’aitu Siaosi, 55, Faleu Manono

"Samoa is founded on God and the Bible says love God and love each other – it is the best commandment that everyone should follow and live with. This is a serious problem that we have nowadays since modern technology and cellphones become our God every day. From the morning till night time, social media is our friend and it becomes first priority for the majority of us. And we start abusing others with our own words and we hurt them with swear words and curse. HRPP and FAST parties I remind you, Jesus says do not judge others, and you will not be judge, do not condemn others or it will all come back against you, forgive others and you will be forgiven."

Fonoti Fogamaa, 50, Fagalii

"I am not supporting any party but I’m praying that the two parties can come together and unite and work together so that we all can move forward and focus on more important things in life. The only solution for these ungrateful acts on social media is when the Parliamentarians move in and work together, show respect to each other and settle things out – like forgetting the differences in their opinions and views but stand together to develop our country for a better future."

Tevaga Polito, 58, Samalaeulu

"I wish the HRPP accepts the fact that they have lost the election and move on because we are moving forward with the new Government but they still messing up. I strongly support the new Government and their strategies. Since HRPP have been in power, they started giving out our lands to foreigners and force Samoans out, and saying that we need to develop our country which is wrong. So I hope that the FAST Government can return the people's land and that’s when we stop hating each other."

Matalena Tamasi, 30, Falealupo

"What the two parties can do to stop this cyberbullying is come together and form the Parliament. That’s when the abuse and the hatred stops. I find it very embarrassing what our people do on Facebook with each other like we are not a Christian country. The words that they say, swear to each other with no respect and it is so sad to see that we use social media as a way to attack and hurt other people. So I believe when the leaders of the two parties stop pointing fingers and accept the fact that we are all sinners and no one is innocent, then online harassment in Samoa will stop."

Tafai Peresitene, 40, Salelologa

"I believe the HRPP should humble themselves and join the FAST party, work together with the new Government and move on. We need to focus on some more important things, rather than staying in the same old seaside and we are tired of hearing the same story every day. All these accusations and finger pointing if we can’t look at ourselves and what we do wrong in the eyes of the Lord? It’s time for all of us to have a good look at the mirror and stop judging each other."

Asovale Galuvao, 29, Vaitele Uta

"In my own opinion, the FAST and HRPP cannot tell their supporters to fight or abuse each other on Facebook or other social media platforms. It is their own stupidity and foolishness that is showing the world who they really are. I think the best solution is to ban Facebook forever to avoid these nonsense attitude."

Tafili Faatonu Galuvao, 30, Vaitele Uta

"It is a difficult issue to have an opinion on because no matter what we say, people will not stop because it is their right to express themselves and express their opinions. The only sad thing about it is that it doesn’t change the fact that the FAST is the new Government of Samoa and we have to accept it. But saying bad thing to each other, it is something that I believe the Government should look at and address. We are all Samoans and we are in the same country so these things should stop now."
