Public welcome appeal to pray, fast

Lesa Sila, 61, Sa’anapu

Praying and fasting is the only way to stop this disease. We must pray with all our heart because God will guide us through these hard times. He is the creator of all things and he will protect us. I support what our leaders have done to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. We don’t have to go all the way to church to worship God, we can worship him within our homes.

Faiga Enari, 48, Fagali’i

We must pray and fast. My concern is how the suspected cases will be treated at the hospital. There is no vaccine and cure for the disease and for now all tests have to be sent overseas. In my opinion, all suspected cases should be isolated somewhere far away from the hospital at Moto’otua because many people visit that hospital and the disease will easily spread.

Selei Fatialofa, 43, Lepa

God gives us everything and he will protect us. We have to pray because that is the answer to all of our problems. What I see happening is that Samoa is more scared of the disease rather than fearing God who is the creator of all things. We don’t know why the disease is spreading like this.

Tasi Atonio, 31, Vaivase

I support the Government and church’s call to pray and fasting in response to coronavirus. We grew up knowing that God will protect us and we should fast because that is the way we should prepare for this disease. We are with God all the time, we pray when we wake up and we pray before we go to sleep. God is everywhere; you don’t have to be in church to worship God. Everyone should stay at home for your safety.

Fa’aoge Tepa, 46, Luatuanu’u

If you pray, fast and trust in God then you will be safe. Our country will be protected if we pray with all our heart. All public gatherings should be stopped. In my opinion, everyone should stay home and worship God together with your families.

Miriama Ahfar, 30, Malololelei

Our country should put their trust in God to protect us from the disease. Fasting is the answer to the problem that we are currently facing because I believe that praying and fasting is the only cure. For now people should stay home for safety. You can worship God with your family within your home. We should always read the Holy Bible.
