Apia defeats Siumu in close match
Apia defeated Siumu 27-21 in a close match in the National Provincial Championship at HPU field, Tuanaimato on Saturday.
It was a tough match between the two teams as they also had to adapt to the state of the field and the weather.
The bad weather did not hinder the two teams from representing their respective sub-unions. The spectators were satisfied with the match, describing it as a tough game.
"This was expected of the two teams as they have been in the sport for some time. They both performed well, they both showed their strength, and areas that they needed to work on more. However, it is great to see improvements from both teams each week. I haven't missed any matches since the NPC started, so it is great to see our local boys going at it," said Tomasi Aloi.
The 30-year-old also mentioned that these tournaments provide a pathway for some of the boys who are from rural areas. They get the chance to be exposed and be seen playing at the highest level of rugby here in Samoa.
The tournament attracted the public from different areas of Samoa to watch and cheer on their teams. Both teams from Savaii and Upolu are competing for the NPC title this year.
