Tri-Sports Samoa Association will have its Festive Fun Run and its prizegiving for the year at Mulinuu and mark the selection of their athletes to the Taupo Cycle Challenge in New Zealand on 14 December.

The Secretary-General for Tri-Sports Samoa, Lani Wendt Young confirmed their activities left for the remainder of 2024.

"At 6.30 am, we start our festive fun run followed by the runners' prizegiving. On Saturday, 14 December we have our triathlon, community event at Mulinuu as well 6 am start," she said in an email in response to queries by this newspaper.

"Also, in partnership with the Bike Samoa Federation, several of our triathletes have been selected to race in the Taupo Cycle Challenge, NZ on 30 November. In the meantime, our regular training sessions are ongoing with the 5 am run and bike training, and afternoon swimming at Taumeasina."

The festive fun run and prizegiving would be the last event in November as some of their triathletes are currently sitting examinations. Two of their members are currently undertaking their Level One Coaching Certification and are flying out to Seoul, Korea on Tuesday. A social media post confirmed that the two members are Donna Aiono Le Tagaloa and Line Mulitalo.

"Donna Aiono Le Tagaloa and Line Mulitalo have been working diligently for a month now on their World Triathlon Level One coaching certification through the online program. Now it's time for them to do the final modules in-person. Thank you to the Government of Korea, namely the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for funding and hosting the course."

They believe it will help with the development of the sport in Samoa and it is an opportunity for Samoa to have some qualified triathlon coaches.
