The youngest player in the Samoa Cricket U-19 women's team, Olive Lefaga Lemoe created history with her first wicket in the T20 World Cup.

She is 15 years old, attends Wesley College and is from Falelauniu, Satupaitea, Gataivai and Salelologa.

Olive is vice-captain and being part of the team was a challenge for her.

"I feel very grateful and privileged for the opportunity to compete in the World Cup. It’s a challenge for me and the girls. We are playing against players who have continuously trained and played all year round and are much better resourced," she said.

"My vision is to continue to play international cricket in the future. It’s a golden opportunity for me to play in the World Cup.

"Being in the team helps me  to develop my game and it has opened up opportunities for growth,  knowledge and experience of the game especially learning from my other players

Olive started playing cricket at Lepea Primary School when she was in Year 6. Her interest in the sport was triggered by cricket clinics and school cricket programmes by the Samoa International Cricket Association (S.I.C.A).

"I also play for our Falelauniu Methodist Sunday School team during the SICA Holy Batz Sunday Schools Competition. I continue to play cricket at school and the Saturday Super Kids Super Hit cricket program," she said.

"My goal is to play for the Samoa International Cricket Senior Women’s Team for the World Cup. I want to be an inspiration to young girls and future cricketers and be the captain of the Samoa Women’s Team.

"I want to continue to play international cricket and fly the flag of Samoa around the world."

She is currently with the team in Malaysia for the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup.
