Lilomaiava Filifilia Iosefa and Mason Smales won their doubles match against Apa Fatialofa and his partner Sylvia, 2 - 1 in a nail-biting match at the Tuanaimato squash court on Saturday evening.

Lilomaiava who is also the president of the Samoa squash association in an interview was very happy about the turnout of their tournament as well as their final match on Saturday.

"Fortunately thank God that Mason and myself won the final. I feel very humble and excited and thankful to the Lord that I managed to complete because it was really tiring and hot in there and its a tough game against Apa Fatialofa and Sylvia. They played really well as you've seen it was a 2-1," he said.

"Mason and I just met here, Mason is based in New Zealand under the Henderson Club but he is going to move to Sydney when he leaves Samoa after this tournament. So we just prepared for one or two days.

"The tournament was a huge success, everyone put in a lot of effort especially our committee. So I give credit to our executive committee especially, our sponsors."

So far, the feedback from the participants has been very positive and they are all looking forward to returning next year for their next competition. He also gave credit to his executive committee for a job well done on the tournament despite the short time they had to prepare for the competition.

Apa Sani Fatialofa, 19 and has been playing squash for a decade says the competition was great and for sure to make his comeback next year.

"I played against my nephew Mason, we've always played growing up and he usually gets the win every time. It's good to see him playing and see that he is training really hard. I'm very proud of him. I am just here for the social vibe. It was an awesome tournament and definitely going to come back next year."
