Semi-final awaits, Samoa beats Tonga
Samoa beat Tonga 2-0 to qualify for the semi-finals of the Oceania Women’s Olympic Qualifiers and have set up a semi-final clash with the Solomon Islands on Friday for a place in Monday’s final.
Monique Fisher scored in the 37th minute with Jayda Stewart cementing Samoa’s place with a 80th minute goal.
New Zealand finished top in Group B. The Kiwis swept aside Vanuatu 5-0 to make it three wins from three in the group stage and will face Fiji in the semi-finals.
Samoa went into their final pool match needing to win to qualify for the semi-finals.
