Toa Samoa thrashed Greece 72-4 early Monday morning to record its first Rugby League World Cup win in England by running in 13 tries in a dominant display.

Coming under a lot of criticism last Monday after losing 60-6 to England in the 2022 RLWC opener, Toa Samoa made up for the loss, with Penrith Panthers five-eighth Jarome Luai's game management running to perfection following kick-off in a man of the match display.

Penrith Panthers' Brian To'o opened up Toa Samoa's account with the first try before the flood gates opened with Paulo, Danny Levi (2), Channel Harris-Tavita (2), Royce Hunt, Luai, Tim Lafai (2), Fa'amanu Brown, Stephen Crichton and Mathew Feagai all going over.

Toa Samoa led 42-0 at half time and Greece scored late in the second stanza through Lachlan Elias for a 72-4 full time scoreline.

Making his third Rugby League World Cup appearance, 31-year-old Lafai joined team mates Levi and Harris-Tavita with two tries apiece while Crichton had a goodnight with the boot with 10 successful conversions.

To'o logged a massive 370 run meters with 17 tackle busts besides scoring a try in a commanding performance.

Speaking after the match, Samoa coach Matt Parish said their performance against Greece was an improvement and an eye now on the match against France to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Greece coach Steve Georgallis said they expected Samoa to make a comeback, following last Monday's drubbing by England, but he was happy with the effort by his team despite the lopsided scoreline.

Toa Samoa now have a massive game against France next Monday (6am Samoa local time) and must win if they are to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Rugby League World Cup.
