R.L.S. Museum to host visiting Prime Minister

The Robert Louis Stevenson Museum will play host to the visiting New Zealand Prime Minister on Monday evening, according to a museum official.
General Manager Alofimua Margaret Silva told the Samoa Observer that the program is still being finalised by the Samoa Government but she understands the museum will host Jacinda Ardern on Monday evening.
She said Ms. Ardern has in fact toured the museum on two separate occasions before and she did remind the C.E.O. of the Ministry of Prime Minister and Cabinet Agafili Shem Leo.
"Jacinda also toured the museum when she was pregnant and I was the one who gave her the tour," Alofimua said.
The museum has hosted high profile visitors to Samoa over the years as well as weddings which the General Manager said makes their venue suitable for these type of occasions.
"These affluent events are simple for us, we have done it for years, we basically look after the decorations, the decor and ensure that the atmosphere is as expected [and] presented with good grace.”
The event at the museum on Monday evening is supposed to be the last for the day for the visiting Prime Minister.
"I think it is the dining event for the Prime Ministers and the diplomatic corps so it will be a strictly by invite only event as per usual affluent events such as these," Alofimua said.
The General Manager then made mention of the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens that the museum staff and workers have done, as part of their preparations for the visit next Monday.
"As you can see we maintain the grass and keep the building maintained,” Alofimua said.
“The Trust has been very supportive despite the convolutions of COVID-19 and all the things we have had to do to keep the museum at its best.”
Ms. Ardern is leading a parliamentary and community delegation to Apia, Samoa as part of a two-day visit to mark the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Friendship between Samoa and New Zealand.
