Australian Survivor film crew due next month

The reality television show Australian Survivor will be shot in Samoa next month with the contestants and crew preparing to fly over, Australian media have reported.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Sunday that the film crew and the contestants are expected in Samoa from 1 August 2022 when the country's borders open to international visitors.
"Coincidentally, Emerald City crossed paths with crew members last week, moments after getting their travel vaccinations, when one loose-lipped crew member accidentally also let slip that they are heading off to the Pacific Islands on August 1," the Sydney Morning Herald article reports.
"Whoops! The latest series is said to be putting its own spin on one of Survivor’s most beloved themes: Heroes vs. Villains."
According to the article the series will see 12 former Australian Survivor castaways divided into two tribes based on their status as either a ‘hero’ or a ‘villain’ alongside 12 new players.
"Rumours are swirling that former AFL player Shaun Hampson, who competed on Champions vs. Contenders in 2019, and last year’s runner-up George Mladenov aka King George of Bankstown will feature.
"Season one winner Kristie Bennett is said to be making a comeback in an attempt to become the franchise’s third two-time winner. The latest season abroad comes after the last two seasons were filmed domestically, in Queensland, due to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Local broadcasting and media production company Sleeping Giant Films has over the past week put out advertisements on social media for local personnel with experience in television production.
"Full-time and part-time for major Australian production filmed in Samoa," reads one of the advertisements.
"Looking for local camera assists, sound assists, production assistants, runners etc."
Another advertisement on the official Facebook page of Sleeping Giant Films said, "The Landing is looking for crew to work on a TV series from August to late September 2022 in Upolu, Samoa."
"We are looking for 27 individuals who are enthusiastic, fit and ready to take on a challenge," reads the Facebook-based advert.
"This is a fun and exciting job and a fantastic opportunity to get your foot in the door in the TV industry and gain valuable experience working on an international film project.
"You will get to spend the day testing challenges, lending a hand to departments on set and standing in for camera checks.
"You will be working 5-6 days a week and will need to be available from early August for least 3 weeks, with preference given to those who can commit to the full 8 weeks."
The Samoa Observer contacted Sleeping Giant Films but a spokesperson of the local film production company did not give any details on the Australian film production, except to say that the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) is the point of contact.
The last time Australian Survivor was in Samoa in 2016, the STA was the point of contact in Samoa for the reality television show.
