Samoa joined the global celebration of World Egg Day yesterday with a fun informative egg festival at Farmer Joe, Vaitele.

Members of the public were given a small tour of how the Tanumapua Sun Choice eggs are processed and it was day full of fun for many families.

“The world is celebrating world egg day on the 9th of October so what we did last year was school visits,” said Event Organizer, Shabneel Vishwaal Singh, Sales & Marketing Manager of Krissy Company.

“We wanted to do something different this year so we did an open entry for everyone so they can come and join us for a very educational side of eggs.

“The other thing that came to us was since the world is celebrating on the 9th which is tomorrow and Samoa celebrates White Sunday on the same day we thought that this would go in line with it.”

Mr. Singh explained what was offered at their small egg day celebration.

“Today is a very important day for Tanumapua farms along with our partners Ah Liki, Samoa Culinary Association, Farmer Joe, Sun Choice Eggs and Origin Gas,” he said.

“Today is mostly just focusing on the eggs side of things, eggs is very important food type in our life so. We are showing the poultry production and then the egg grading machines.

“Customers can come here and see that we are not fooling people here, we are giving people the value for their money.

“So they get to see the grading of the eggs; small, medium and large. We also show infomercials because we have the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries onboard.

“They give pamphlets and flyers about poultry production to the customers and then we have Samoa Chefs Association helping to do the cooking and free tasting with everything to do with eggs.

“We also have a whole lot of fun activities for the kids; we have zumba, egg walk and other fun activities.”
