Man wanted for questioning claims he has already met police
A 25-year-old man wanted by police for questioning has claimed he already met with officers voluntarily earlier this week.
Police issued a public notice seeking Connor Strickert and asked him to present himself at the nearest police station in relation to an ongoing matter. The reasons for the questioning have not been detailed.
However, a Facebook account under the name Connor Strickert posted that he had already spoken with police on Wednesday.
The post claimed he voluntarily went to the police station and fully cooperated with officers before being allowed to leave.
“I was informed that if anything further was needed, they would contact me directly,” the post said.
The account also stated: “I have nothing to hide and I am willing to cooperate fully.”
It added that he intended to return to speak with police again and would seek legal advice.
In another post dated 26 May, the same account claimed he had been receiving threats.
“The threats, harassment, and false accusations being directed at me are now becoming extremely serious and dangerous,” the post said.
The latest development comes after a man, woman and young girl were stopped at Faleolo International Airport on Wednesday night before departure on an Air New Zealand flight to Auckland.
More details to come.
