More than 10 voters who were confirmed to be supporters of Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Party showed up to pre-polling and were turned away because they had not registered for pre-polling.

It is believed these voters were from Savaii.

Scrutineers who were present at the scene said these voters comprised elderly men and women were trying to cast special votes through pre-polling on Wednesday.

Electoral Commissioner, Tuiafelolo John Stanley, confirmed that there were voters from Savaii.

He said this was because they did not register to pre-poll, and officials present at the venue in Tuana'imato explained to these voters that they can cast special votes on Friday since they were all from Savai'i.

Tuiafelolo did not elaborate to confirm if these voters are actually FAST supporters, but this was confirmed by reliable sources who were scrutineers at the venue on Wednesday.

Tuiafelolo said all Savaii voters who are residing in Upolu can cast their votes at Gym One and Gym Two or any polling booth in Upolu.

These special votes will be sorted out on Saturday and can only be counted on Monday during the official counts.

All the pre-polling votes, the votes cast on general election day, will be recounted on the day of the official count, 1 September, together with the special votes.

There will always be a special ballot box available at all polling booths for special voters to cast their votes.
