The chairman of Ale Vena Ale's election committee, Maluaiga Fruean, denied that they had been charged by police with treating after a complaint was filed with the police about the transportation of voters during pre-polling on Wednesday.

Speaking to Samoa Observer from Toamua, where they are based at Ale's residence, Maluaiga said they have not transported any voters.

"I say that nothing like that happened and none of our committee members have been charged for treating or transporting any voter to the polling booths," he said.

However, Police Commissioner, Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo, said a complaint was lodged by the Office of the Electoral Commissioner confirming that some members of Ale's Committee were transporting voters of Faleata 4 for pre-polling on Wednesday.

Auapa'au said these committee members were reported to be using a blue van to transport voters, have been charged.

He said he cannot reveal how many of these committee members have been charged or what other possible charges they have been charged.

Meanwhile, there are three candidates vying for the Faleata No.4 seat: Ale Vena Ale of Fa'atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) Party, Pepe Christian Fruean of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) and Mapu Tafa'igata Toilolo of Samoa Uniting Party (SUP).

There are about 270 voters from Faleata No.4 who were allowed to pre-poll on Wednesday, and the results will be known on Friday after the preliminary counts, where the pre-polling votes will also be counted.

Electoral Commissioner, Tuiafelolo John Stanley, confirmed to Samoa Observer when he was asked about this matter, saying that these committee members were reported transporting some of the pre-polling voters to the Samoa Adventist Church Hall in Lalovaea.

This venue was one of the pre-polling booths for Vaimauga 4.
