It is illegal to campaign now, according to an announcement made by the Office of the Electoral Commission on Sunday. The campaign period is set to start on 14 July and end on 24 August.

After the approved period, all campaigns are to cease. All promotions on social media, pamphlets, posters, broadcasting and printed media, meetings with voters, or anything related to campaigns are to be halted. The OEC also took the opportunity to remind the candidates campaigning that the nomination period hasn't ended, it's against the Electoral law to campaign now.

As of today, HRPP and FAST parties have endorsed most candidates. It is known that the FAST party has candidates in all 51 constituencies, while HRPP hasn't shown any interest in the Lotofaga seat; hence, no candidate is contesting from that district.

The General Election, which was supposed to be held in 2026, is now set to be held on 29 August due to the early dissolution of parliament this year. The results of the upcoming election will determine the 18th composition of Parliament. The FAST party were elected into office in the last election.

The tenure ended early when the Government's Budget failed, and Caretaker Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mata'afa advised the Head of State of the situation and called for a snap election.
