Prime Minister Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt has arrived in Samoa, landing on flight NZ992 from Auckland, New Zealand, at Faleolo International Airport at around 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister’s vehicle was stationed at the VIP terminal, with several cabinet ministers' vehicles also seen at the airport awaiting his arrival.
The Samoa Observer observed tight security at the scene, with multiple members of the Prime Minister’s personal security detail patrolling the area.
The Prime Minister was medically evacuated two weeks ago for what was initially described as “overdue medical checks.”
In a press conference days after the medical evacuation, Acting Prime Minister Mulipola Anarosa Ale-Molioo revealed concerns about the Prime Minister’s heart and lungs.
Later reports revealed that he had been admitted to the Coronary Care Unit at Middlemore Hospital in Otahuhu, New Zealand.
