Samoa Observer now on TikTok

The Samoa Observer launched its official TikTok page on Monday, stating that the goal is to "keep people well informed and to strengthen our role as a trusted voice in journalism."
“It’s the most natural step toward increasing our reach and attracting new audiences, especially younger readers. TikTok has always been in the pipeline — we just felt it was important to launch when the time was right,” said Digital Manager Jarrett Malifa.
According to Mr Malifa, the platform will feature content from all topics covered by the newspaper and serve as a way to connect directly with readers.
"The platform will feature content from every topic we cover and serve as a way to connect directly with our readers," he said.
In March this year, the Samoa Observer reported the existence of a fake TikTok profile using the company’s name and altering its content with potentially hateful messages.
At the time, the Samoa Observer condemned the messages and actions of those behind the fake account, which used unauthorised content belonging to the newspaper.
The official TikTok account is under the handle @samoa_observer. The Samoa Observer also maintains an online presence on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and now TikTok.
