Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) candidate Tuimaseve Seumanutafa Fiu will be running against Human Rights Protection Party's Aeau Tima Leavaiseeta for the Falealupo seat in the upcoming election.

The seat was held by FAST member Fuiono Tenina Crichton, who is believed to have stepped down to allow Tuimaseve to contest under the FAST banner.

Both female candidates for the constituency of Falealupo were handed over to their respective parties on Wednesday by their constituents. The chief of Falealupo, who did the handover of Aeau Tima mentioned that they have already handed over their other candidate who is running under the FAST banner.

"We have already dropped off our other candidate, now we are here to hand over our other candidate. We do not want to be seen as a constituency who would embrace the other and leave the other," he told the HRPP gathering last week.

Tuimaseve is new to the political game, while Aeau Tima has been around the political arena. She won Falealupo's seat in the last election. But she had to withdraw due to personal reasons. Aeau Tima and Tuimaseve Seumanutafa are two of the few female candidates running for office.

Fuiono was declared the MP for Falealupo late November 2021 after the Supreme Court disqualified Tuitogamanaia Dr Peniamina Leavai from the by-election. Fuiono was a first-term parliamentarian who lost the April election to Aeau Tima Leavai.
