The police have ruled that there was no foul play involved in the death of woman whose body was found in the Fuluasou River in May.

Police Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed this with the Samoa Observer during an interview.

However, there was a recommendation to still have an autopsy to make clear of the cause of death.

"So far with our investigations, I can say that there is no foul play, but we were advised by the doctor to have a post mortem examination just to clear everything and avoid any other questions that may arise," he said.

It is not yet sure when the forensic pathologist will be in Samoa to conduct an autopsy on the woman's body and that of the teenage boy from Faleatiu, who was allegedly shot and killed in a hunting accident.

The woman's family have been notified of all the developments and progress in her case. According to Auapaau, the family has disclosed to them that the deceased and her husband have been living with different families and are suspected of being involved with drugs, specifically methamphetamine.

When she passed away, she was living with her husband at Aleisa looking after a farm. The initial investigation showed that the husband was not present at home when the wife passed away while sleeping. It is still unclear how the body of the woman from Aleisa ended up at the Fuluasou River in Tulaele.
