Teenager among drugs suspects in raid
A teenager found with meth last year where he claimed he brought the narcotics for his school teacher was again taken into custody after a search of three suspects at the courthouse in Mulinuu last Thursday.
The arrests at the courthouse were followed by a drug raid at Leauvaa, where two more men were arrested. Police found meth and illegal firearams.
The Police Commissioner, Auapaau Logoitino Filipo confirmed the drug raid and that the suspects were arrested and charged. He said the constant finds of illegal firearms were becoming a concern.
"Five males have been charged by the police for possession of narcotics, namely methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of utensils, possession of unlawful ammunition, and possession of unregistered firearms. Four of the suspects are from Leauvaa, with one from Aleisa," he said.
The police conducted two raids following the courthouse arrests last week. At Aleisa, the police did not find anything from Aleisa, however, the raid at Leauvaa netted the drugs and the guns.
One of the suspect includes the student from a secondary school who was also taken into custody for meth. According to Auapaau, the police officers on duty recognised the three as being suspected of dealing with meth and an immediate operation was carried out to apprehend the three.
The police searched the cars belonging to the suspects and found narcotics and utensils.
Auapaau also confirmed that police warrants were already there for them, so they went and raided their homes. He alleged that the five suspects may be related to one another.
