Lagaaia loses Palauli No.3 seat to Aiolupotea

Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) candidate Aiolupotea Misa Tony Aiolupo has secured the Palauli No.3 parliamentary seat, winning by 306 votes over second-placed candidate Leituala Benhur Matalavea.

This was confirmed during the final count on Monday night.

The former Minister of Women Community and Social Development (MWCSD), Lagaaia Tiaituau Tufuga of the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP), formerly held the Palauli No.3 seat after he attained it in the previous 2021 election while running under the Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party banner.

Aiolupotea Misa Tony Aiolupo secured 811 votes, Leituala Benhur Matalavea of the Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) secured 505 votes, while Lagaaia Tiaituau Tufuga of the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP) got 75 votes.

The total amount of valid votes for Palauli No.3 is 1391, while there were two informal votes and three special votes. Pre-poll votes for the constituency were 112 votes.
